Materials and Processes for Driveways
Prime Asphalt will meet any, and every, driveway-paving need by utilizing:
Things to Know About Your Driveway Project
Below, you will find a brief overview of various driveway related products and services we offer. Regardless of whether you need a completely new driveway or only need repair services, Prime Asphalt will get the job done efficiently, affordably, and according to your exact specifications.
Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (HMAC)
HMAC is produced by mixing a heated asphalt binder to an aggregate at high, very-controlled temperatures. The paving and compacting is performed while the asphalt is at just the right temperature.
Asphalt Patching and Repair
Proper maintenance of any driveway is crucial. But, eventually repairs are a going to need to happen. If your asphalt driveway requires patching, the procedure will be performed when the air and ground temperatures are above freezing. We can spot-patch for a temporary remedy.
We utilize saw-cutting if needed, as well as removal and disposal. Saw-cut removal and replacement is the most effective repair when asphalt surfaces have been damaged due to water infiltration which will compromise the sub-grade material.
If black top or concrete is not your first-choice regarding a new or refurbished driveway, you will love the appearance of Chip Seal! This less expensive alternative to black top or concrete, goes by the name 'Tar & Chip'. It involves liquid asphalt (or hot bitumen) being distributed over existing pavement or a compacted and grated area.
Rock is evenly spread and then rolled, impacted and sealed. The end result is eye catching and classy. Your driveway will be virtually maintenance-free. It will provide improved traction and absorb less heat than other materials. Additionally, Chip Seal goes down faster than asphalt and offers minimal downtime, and can be driven on, almost immediately.
To make things even more interesting, you can choose a particular rock color. Once your project is completed, your gorgeous driveway will take on the appearance of a quaint, gravel road.
As part of regular driveway maintenance, any cracks in asphalt should be filled as soon as possible. Prime Asphalt uses hot rubber or cold pour crack filler which embeds itself in any undesired fissure and hardens, super-tough. Filling cracks as a preventative measure ensures your driveway will not weaken and lose its important structural support.
If not sealed properly, your asphalt driveway will deteriorate quickly. The perfect remedy is a seal coat that will inhibit deterioration when applied on a regular basis. Generally, an asphalt driveway should be sealed every 2 to 3 years to provide optimal protection. Also, seal coat works best when applied when air and pavement temperatures are at least 49 degrees Fahrenheit, during a period of 4 continuous hours.
When seal coat is applied, you can expect minimal downtime. A seal coat, when used as part of a maintenance plan, will not only make your driveway look new again, but is very affordable!
Emulsified Sealer/Rejuvenator will breathe new life into asphalt. It penetrates the pavement and supply's necessary oils that have, over time, been lost due to oxidation and daily use. Oil-based coatings will cure quickly and rebind the aggregate. In the end, your driveway is optimally shielded from water and UV rays. A rich, black coloration indicative of oil-based coating can be quite striking. Oil-based Gilsonite can be added in any temperature as long as the surface is dry.
If you desire a more colorful alternative to black, Prime Asphalt offers specialty coatings in 13 earth-tone colors. Prime Asphalt uses 'SealMaster Neutral Base ColorPave' which is specifically intended to be mixed with ColorPave HD Tint. Be prepared for compliments since your driveway will become a show-stopper in its own right!
Grading and Excavation
With Prime Asphalt, you work with only one contractor which makes the entire process seamless and simple. If you need a base installed for a new driveway, completion with grading on new construction, or someone to clean up and level after asphalt paving, we've got you covered.
Recycled or Green Materials
Prime Asphalt desires to make a minimal impact on the environment. Because of that, we offer recycled asphalt – or RAP – which is the single, most-used recycled product in the US. RAP is made from previously-used pavement that has been crushed. It still possesses some of the original bituminous asphalt from being initially produced as Hot-Mix. RAP is tight, tough and maintenance-free and is especially conducive to ranch roads and rural driveways.
If dust is an ongoing issue where you own your home or manage your business, RAP can provide the remedy you need.
